High Cotton to stand at Ocala Stud

Grade 3 winner High Cotton will stand his initial season at Ocala Stud in 2008 for $5,000.

The four-year-old Dixie Union colt won four of 17 career starts, including the 2006 Northern Dancer Breeders’ Cup Stakes (G3) at Churchill Downs for trainer Todd Pletcher and owner Peachtree Stable.

High Cotton also won the 2006 Rushaway Stakes at Turfway Park and ’06 Sir Barton Stakes at Pimlico Race Course and earned runner-up finishes in the ‘06 Ohio Derby (G2) and in the ‘05 Kentucky Jockey Club (G2) and Iroquois (G3) Stakes during his juvenile campaign.

High Cotton, who amassed career earnings of $462,574, is out of the A.P. Indy mare Happy Tune, a half sister of 1996 champion two-year-old filly Storm Song. He is a half brother to Grade 3 winner Symphony Sid.
